Shaping the GitHub of the future as COO
GitHub is driving the future of software development and, after 10 years as a Hubber, I’m more energized than ever as I take on the role of COO to help bring our vision to life.
I joined GitHub on April 23, 2013 – almost exactly 10 years ago. In the time since then, I’ve seen the astonishing evolution of GitHub, and I am thrilled to be stepping into the role of Chief Operating Officer for the company I have loved for more than a decade.
When I joined GitHub, we were small and scrappy, driven by the pure joy of creating things that made software development easier and more fun. We were laying the foundation for a GitHub that would change the world, whether we knew it yet or not. It was exhilarating, creative, and incredibly fast-paced.
Now, more than a decade later, GitHub still loves to build, and it turns out that we really were changing the world. Today, more than 100 million developers rely on GitHub and we’re rapidly building the complete developer platform, secure at every step and powered by AI through the advancements of GitHub Copilot and the vision we’ve shared for Copilot X. More than 3,000 Hubbers are showing up every day to build the future of software development, and we feel a deep sense of responsibility to make that future brilliant for you–the developers, creators, and innovators who depend on GitHub.
My commitment as COO is to help set GitHub’s course for Hubbers, our customers, and our community, as we scale a remote-first, AI-integrated, developer-centric company in a world that has changed dramatically over the last few years. I’ll be investing in our culture and business strategy, in who we are and how we work, and how we share that with the world. I get so much energy from speaking to Hubbers and developers around the world and will be listening to ensure we’re making informed decisions about how GitHub can better help you do your life’s work.
There is a spark that comes with working at GitHub, the knowledge that together, we’re doing something incredible. I have never been more excited to be at GitHub than I am today, with the responsibility and the privilege of tending that spark, helping Hubbers connect with our mission and culture, and continuing to work alongside the brilliant people who are driving the future of software development.
GitHub, let’s build from here.
